Frequently Asked Questions
Aldo's in the News
Where are you located?
You can find the cafe Greenport, NY, a historic seaport village located on the North Fork of Long Island. With a deep harbor, it was once a major whaling port and later a huge oystering center. In 2011, Forbes magazine named Greenport one of the prettiest towns in the United States. Today, it’s the epicenter of the North Fork and home to the best coffee anywhere.
Where else can I get your coffee and baked goods?
In addition to the café and this site, you can enjoy Aldo’s coffee at these amazing restaurants: The North Fork Table & Inn, Noah’s, The Frisky Oyster and First & South. You can also buy his beans and biscotti at Harbor Market & Kitchen in Sag Harbor and 8 Hands Farm in Cutchogue.
Is your coffee organic?
All of Aldo's coffee is certified organic. In fact, if one of your favorites is suddenly unavailable, chances are it’s because we couldn’t find an organic version from our supplier.
How do you choose your beans?
Aldo himself selects and sources all beans either for their characteristics for a single-origin cup or for the way they work together in special blends. He is always on the lookout for something interesting, exciting, and delicious. Like wine grapes, coffee bean change with terroir, grower, weather, and season.
What size bag does your coffee come in?
Unlike many roasters, Aldo packages a full pound (16 ounces) of coffee. We find that to be the ideal amount for two people for a week or one person for two weeks.
What if I don't have a grinder?
Grinding your coffee for each use is the very best way to experience your beans. However, if that’s not an option, we’ll happily grind your beans to your specifications.
What's the best way to store the coffee?
First and foremost, Aldo recommends you only buy what you can consume within a week or two so as to maintain the integrity of the coffee. Heat, light, humidity, and oxygen all accelerate the deterioration of your coffee's flavor and aroma by damaging the delicate coffee oils. Keep whole beans in the bag they came in—making sure to eliminate all the air and seal it tightly each time—and store in a cool, dry place. Because the beans are roasted no more than 24 hours before you buy them, they will be at their very best for a full two to three weeks. Finally, whole beans will last longer than ground, which is one of the reasons you may want to invest in a good grinder and grind for each use.
What’s the best way to brew my coffee?
All of Aldo's coffee can be brewed by multiple methods, from pour over and percolator to espresso and French press. We encourage you to enjoy it with any method you prefer. Regardless of brewing method, it is recommended that you use cold, fresh water and the appropriate grind. If you have any questions on brewing we’re happy to provide guidance at info@aldoscoffee.com.
When will my coffee ship?
We do our best to roast and ship within 24 hours of receiving your weekday order (those received Friday through Sunday will ship out on Monday). We ship USPS Priority Mail and most orders arrive in two days or less. You’ll receive a tracking number via email as soon as your order ships. If, for any reason, your chosen coffee isn’t available, we’ll let you know when you can expect it to be roasted. And if it’s truly a coffee emergency, we’ll suggest an alternative.
Is shipping included?
When purchasing coffee or merchandise from this site, shipping is figured automatically—based on weight and destination—and is added at checkout.
