What does a naturally processed dark roast taste like?

Fruit-forward. Natural processing dries the coffee inside the whole cherry, and that's where Earthy & Seductive's bold fruity flavors come from — dark berry sweetness, smooth chocolate depth, and exotic aromatics on a heavy-bodied French dark roast.

Is this coffee low in acidity?

Yes. The longer coffee is roasted, the less acidic it becomes, and this is a French dark roast — bold, smooth, low in acidity, and heavy-bodied. Intense, but never burnt.

Why is there oil on the beans?

It's normal and expected. Dark roasts reach the second crack, which draws the bean's natural oils to the surface. Those oils carry the aromatic compounds that give the cup its body, depth, and richness — surface oil is not a sign of old coffee.

Which grind should I choose?

Match your brewer: coarse for French press and cold brew, medium for drip, fine for espresso. Choose your grind at checkout and we grind every bag immediately before packing and shipping — or order whole bean, which stays freshest the longest. Full details in our Coffee Grind Size Guide.

How do I brew it in a French press?

Coarse grind, water around 190°F (never boiling), a 1:18 coffee-to-water ratio, and a 4-minute steep — then press slowly with even pressure. The French press's metal filter lets the coffee's natural oils through, which is exactly why this blend shines in it. It also makes exceptional cold brew.

How fresh will my coffee be?

We roast to order in small batches throughout the week, so coffee is typically 2–7 days off roast when it ships. Every bag is stamped with its roast batch, so you know exactly when it was roasted.

How should I store it?

Keep the bag tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from light — never the fridge or freezer. Grind only what you need: whole bean is best within four weeks, ground within two to three.

This blend brings together two distinctive farm origins: naturally processed Ethiopian beans grown by smallholder farmers in the highlands of Sidama, and organic Bali Kintamani coffee cultivated on volcanic soil in the shade of citrus trees. Because it’s a true French dark roast, the beans are taken just to the second crack during roasting. At that point the structure of the bean opens up and the natural oils inside the coffee migrate to the surface, which can make the beans appear shiny or oily. It’s a normal part of darker roasting and actually contributes to the heavy body and richness people expect from a dark roast.

That said, we completely understand that some grinders and brewing setups handle oilier beans differently, and personal preference always matters. If you’d ever like a recommendation for a roast that keeps the bold flavor but shows less surface oil, we’d be happy to help you find the right fit.
